Ministry of Finance was awarded three prizes at the GITI Awards 2009
Second regional Georgia IT Innovation Conference was held in Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel on October 29-30, 2009. The event was organized by the Georgia ICT Business Council and the State Commission of e-Governance Development of Georgia, with the support of USAID Georgia and the RCI Project. More than 250 participants from twelve countries participated in the two-day conference aimed at sharing IT best practices in public and private sectors. The purpose of the conference was to describe the significance of information technology in terms of creating an engine of growth for socio-economic development of Region; network with stakeholders and build awareness regarding IT importance among high-level governmental officials, private sector representatives and the society at large. The distinguished panel of keynote speakers brought a diverse set of insights on different advancements on IT initiatives around the world.
At the end of the second day the organizers awarded the winners of the Georgian IT Awards 2009. The purpose of the award ceremony was to credit governmental and private entities for good work and best practices and encourage them and others to invest their time and energy in further development of the IT field. The award for the best integrator of the year went to UGT. Strategic Partners from Armenia was awarded two prizes including the prize for the best multimedia project.
The National Agency of Public Registry received awards for the best IT management entity and for the successful IT innovation which resulted in streamlining of a business process. The award for the most successful infrastructural solution went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The Ministry of Finance of Georgia received three awards: the most widely applicable e-service, the best information resource and the super-prize – the IT agency of the year. The master of ceremony of the GITI Awards 2009 was Keti Sidamonidze from the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia.
